PNC Bank, the principal subsidiary of PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. is one of the well known banking firms based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. PNC Bank History

The history of PNC Bank dates back to 1852, when Pittsburgh Trust and Savings Company was established in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1863, the bank also changed its name to First National Bank of Pittsburgh after becoming the first bank to have received a national charter according to the National Banking Act of that year. The Company shifted its headquarters in 1858 at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Wood Street in Pittsburgh. Following a series of mergers, the bank evolved into Pittsburgh National Corporation by 1959. Later in 1982, Provident National Corporation merged with Pittsburgh National Corporation to form PNC Financial Corporation. On 19th July, 2007, PNC Bank acquired Sterling Financial Corporation, a well known commercial and consumer bank having accounts and branches in Delaware, Northeast Maryland and Central Pennsylvania.
